Note: This article is about editing the original asset in the Asset Library. For editing assets that have been added to a story, see relevant articles under "Building Stories."
Metadata
Each asset has fields where you can add metadata, such as a title and description. If this metadata has been embedded in the file you upload, then this metadata should be automatically added to the fields in Storycrafter.
Helpful Hint
- When you add an asset to a story, some metadata fields (such as title and description) are automatically copied to the story, too. You can edit these text items within the story without affecting the original version in the asset library.
Images
After an image has been added to the library, you can crop it to remove parts of the image that you do not need.
To crop an image:
- Open the image record and click the "Crop" button at the top of the screen.
- Using your mouse, drag to create a box around the portion of the image you want to retain. Click "OK".
- The image has now been cropped to your specifications.
Helpful Hints
- Cropping is non-destructive. At any point you can change the crop of an image, in case you later change your mind.
- When an image is added to a story, it is added with the same crop as what is in the library. However, you can change the crop of the image in the story without affecting crop of the original version in the library.
Videos
Videos have a static thumbnail image—called a poster frame—that is used in certain contexts, such as when a video is placed in a slideshow. Poster frames give users an idea of what is in video before they play it. When you upload a video, Storycrafter automatically creates a poster frame for the video. If you wish, you can change a video's poster frame.
- Open the video record in the library.
- Play the video, and pause it at the frame you want to use.
- Click the button labeled "Set Frame as Poster". The video will now use this frame as its new poster frame.
